Carols at Sussex Ring 2017

The annual carol singing took place at Sussex Ring on Saturday 16th December 2017.  Despite the weather being a little damp, the occasion was attended by some eighty people of all denominations including numerous children. The blue spruce in Sussex Ring was decked with sparkling lights and passengers peered out from condensation covered windows in passing buses wondering what on earth was going on. The singing was led by Andy and Bridget from St Barnabas Church who not only sung but played musical instruments with loud speakers as well. The children sung beautifully  “Away in a Manger”, “We Wish you a Merry Christmas” and a double dose of “Jingle Bells” whilst the adults vocalised the more traditional carols. Not all of the singing was in tune but that did not matter because everyone was enjoying themselves.  Our local MP Theresa Villiers found time to help with the singing. We would particularly like to thank Vero Café who provided coffee and soft drinks and the awning under which the duo could play. Sweets and mince pies were also available and a little scotch was sometimes added to the coffee to make the chill of the day go away. Thank you to everyone who helped and who took part. All in all, it was a joyous occasion and a wonderful way to begin the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
