Picnic In the Park

0

This was held on the hot afternoon of 7th July 2018 and clashed with England’s World Cup quarter final success against Sweden, Wimbledon, the Grand Prix practice at Silverstone and other events as well.  Nevertheless some twenty people or so appeared  and sweltered in the heat at Riverside Park by Dollis Brook with picnics and free coffee and drinks.

There was a Bake-Off competition. The winners and cakes are shown in the picture.  The three winners were awarded with prizes donated by the local shops namely Indulgence (Hair and Beauty), Michaels Restaurant  and Blakes Dry Cleaners. Our special thanks go to these establishments for donating the prizes.

First prize went to Tristan of Wolstonbury with his blackberry flavoured cupcakes. They were delicious.  Second prize went to Mollie, also in Wolstonbury with her magnificent strawberry and cream double decker sponge and Saksha of Linkside won third prize with the most sumptuous and decadent looking chocolate cake.  The cakes were judged by Councillor Alison Cornelius (also in the picture).

A quiz was held with some tricky questions.  Saksha managed to answer all ten questions correctly and won first prize which was a cake donated by Vero Caffé. The quiz questions will appear on the website shortly.  Can you answer them?

Some idle chat, lying in the sun, free drinks and a little picnic  made the afternoon very sweet. Thank you to everyone who helped and to everyone who turned up.
